Moe Berg
Having the same last name and learning about this extraordinary character spying for america during WW2. The story is, Moe was a major league catcher who had a better mind than his baseball skills and the powers in the government found out about him and his brilliance, was included in an all star visit to Japan. While there he took pictures of the infrastructure and anything else to help the allies. He also joined the OSS in 1943 and spied on Germany to find out how close they were to making an atomic bomb. He went to Princeton and Columbia and spoke numerous languages. Known as the brainiest baseball player.
Tragically he fell down the stairs hitting his head and then going to the hospital. The next day just before he died he asked the nurse.. “Did the Mets win today”? A true American hero… Always worthy of a painting.
