Earl Monroe
I've know Earl since the late 80s as we both lived on west 88th street in NYC. First time I saw Earl was in the neighborhood butcher shop. Then I would see him playing tennis in Central Park as I would be running around the reservoir at the same time. I would say hi to him any time I would see him in the neighborhood. When I was involved in the Negro League organization NLBPA at an event for the players in Secaucus NJ his wife Marita would help pick up players at the airport for the event. Earl also was involved in music like me and being that music was my livelihood we spoke about equipment etc through the years and have had many family times together. A fine man with a DRY sense of humor. I wanted to honor him with a painting so here it is.
